ART
Grade 7

In 7th grade art, we take what the children have learned in 1-6th grades and expand their skill levels. We cover line, shape, color, form, texture, value and space. We use the text book, Exploring Visual Design.  Through the text, we are also introduced to many modern artists and shown examples of their work. Through this we are also introduced to many different cultures! Emphasis is on drawing but we will introduce water color, clay, printmaking and other media.

ART
Grade 8

During 8th grade art, we take the skills we sharpened in 7th grade, such as shading and knowledge of 1 and 2 point perspective, and use these to work with the Principles of Design. Those are Balance, Unity, Contrast, Emphasis, Pattern, Movement and Rhythm.
We will be using the 2nd half of the textbook we used last year, Exploring Visual Design.
We will try to do more with design and more 3-d work this year! We will continue to explore media, including calligraphy with pen and ink, and printmaking, clay and charcoal with pastel.
